# Connect your social accounts

> Which accounts you can connect to Sheer, which login to use for Instagram, and what data Sheer reads.

Sheer reads your stats directly from the platforms, so your mediakit, reports and profile stay up to date without you uploading screenshots. Connections are read-only: Sheer never posts, messages or changes anything on your accounts.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Use a laptop or desktop computer.

## Where to connect

New users connect during onboarding. Everyone else connects from the **Integrations** page: click your email in the bottom-left corner, choose **User settings**, then **Integrations**. Or go straight to [app.usesheer.com/settings/sheer\_user/integrations](https://app.usesheer.com/settings/sheer_user/integrations). The same page shows the status of every account you've connected.

## Instagram: Login with Instagram or Login with Facebook?

Both connect an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator) and give Sheer the same core data. Login with Facebook adds a few things.

| | Login with Instagram | Login with Facebook |
| - | :-: | :-: |
| Profile, followers, audience demographics | ✓ | ✓ |
| Posts, reels and stories with insights | ✓ | ✓ |
| Connect several Instagram accounts in one login | | ✓ |
| Repost counts on posts, reels and stories | | ✓ |
| Link sticker clicks on stories | | ✓ |
| Needs a Facebook Page linked to your Instagram | | ✓ |

**Our recommendation:** use [Login with Instagram](https://help.usesheer.com/connect/instagram.md) unless you need one of the extras. It has fewer steps and no Facebook Page requirement.

## How long does a connection last?

Your connection stays active on its own. You only need to reconnect if the platform stops accepting Sheer's access, typically because you changed your password, removed Sheer from your connected apps, or Instagram asked you to re-authorise. See [What your connection status means](https://help.usesheer.com/troubleshooting/connection-status.md).

## Disconnecting

You can remove Sheer's access at any time from the platform's own settings. YouTube can also be disconnected from the Integrations page. See [Privacy & Data](https://help.usesheer.com/privacy-data/privacy.md) for what happens to your data afterwards.
