# Switch to an Instagram professional account

> Sheer needs an Instagram Business or Creator account to read your insights. Switching takes a minute in the Instagram app.

Sheer can only read stats from Instagram **professional accounts**. Instagram offers two kinds, **Business** and **Creator**, and both work with Sheer. Personal accounts don't expose insights.

Switching is free and doesn't change your username or content. Do it on your phone in the Instagram app.

**1. Open your profile**

Tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner of the Instagram app.

**2. Open the menu**

Tap  in the top-right corner.

**3. Go to Account type and tools**

On some versions it's under **Settings and privacy** first.

**4. Tap Switch to professional account**

Follow the prompts. Pick **Creator** or **Business**, whichever fits you. You can change it later.
